How we calculate your CO2e

In the safe and secure environment of the Omnevue platform, your banking data summarises your everyday purchasing.

That’s all the information we need to calculate your CO2e.

You simply need to connect your business bank accounts (up to 5) and our proprietary categorisation engine will quickly determine the sector and business activity of each supplier and calculate your CO2e estimates using spend-based methods as outlined in the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol.

Your data security is our priority

Your data is securely stored with Advanced Encryption Standards (AES-256) and in line with industry best practice.

We calculate your CO2e and a unique Quality Score

Omnevue goes beyond GHG protocol and improves the quality of a business’ CO2e estimate by combining transactional spend data with merchant data and external databases. This approach helps determine the most accurate emission factor possible for a specific supplier and therefore strengthens the accuracy of estimated carbon emissions. And allows us to calculate a unique Quality Score.

We combine external databases to improve accuracy

GHG Protocol databases

Omnevue deploys a global Environmentally Extended Input-Output (EEIO) database, used by the European Union (EU) and multiple countries worldwide.

Supplier specific databases

The EEIO is augmented by a private database of emission factors for 10,000+ publicly listed companies. The Quality Score increases if these emissions are audited.

Audited supplier database

Omnevue also deploys a proprietary database of audited emission factors for private companies. This data is all verified by financial accountants.

Better CO2e data =
better decisions & growth

Monitor the quality of your CO2e data and therefore the accuracy of your CO2e emission estimate by looking at your Quality Score (QS).

What is the Quality Score (QS)?

The QS is based on the reported CO2e emissions calculated per transaction and weighted to value.

How can it help you?

The QS helps you understand the level of confidence in the quality of your carbon data. A high QS means that more accurate carbon data has been used in the calculations.

How should I use it?

Review your vueco2e carbon calculations alongside your QS and you will be able to make more informed decisions regarding how to reduce your CO2e emissions and save money.

How can I improve my Quality Score?

For the best quality CO2e data (and highest QS), upgrade to our vueesg solution. This will provide you with assurance ready data that is reported in line with international accounting standards. You can get this data assured by a Chartered Accountant.

Why it is important to choose the right CO2e data provider

A recent study by scholars, including Omnevue Co-founder Dr Marc Lepere, at King’s Business School, London identified that ‘there is uncertainty amongst businesses in the application of the GHG Protocol’. It also found that ‘a gap in the GHG Protocol may be facilitating gaming in the accounting of GHG emissions’.
