David Carlin joins as
Strategic Advisor

David Carlin, a renowned figure in risk programming and environmental finance, has officially joined Omnevue, winner of the City AM ‘ESG start up of the year’, in a strategic advisory capacity. Omnevue is a leading platform in ESG reporting, known for its provision of financial-grade, auditable ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and CO2e data, setting the quality for reporting to accounting standards.

With a career spanning various dimensions of finance, risk management and sustainability, Carlin offers a wealth of expertise and experience to Omnevue. Currently leading Risk Programming for the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), Carlin has worked with over 100 financial institutions on topics of climate scenarios, climate risk assessments, and sustainability regulation. He and his team support financial actors across the world to develop best practices for managing environmental risks and identifying environmental opportunities.

Carlin plays a pivotal role in advising key initiatives such as the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), the Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA), and the Glasgow Financial Alliances for Net Zero (GFANZ). His involvement in these high-profile endeavours highlights his commitment to advancing environmental sustainability and shaping the agenda for responsible financial practices.

Beyond his roles at UNEP FI, Carlin is the founder of Cambium Global Solutions, which helps governments, corporations, and financial institutions address the most pressing environmental challenges and thrive in a changing world. His dedication to driving positive change has positioned him as a thought leader in finance and sustainability.

Carlin’s contributions extend beyond his professional engagements; he is a regular contributor to Forbes, where he shares insights on climate change and leadership, and holds a senior associate position at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL).

Prior to his current roles, Carlin held key positions at Oliver Wyman and PNC Bank, specialising in finance, risk management, and public policy. His background in quantitative modelling and decision science, coupled with extensive research experience at institutions like Carnegie Mellon University, underscores his analytical rigour and strategic acumen.

Omnevue is looking forward to working more closely with Carlin and applying his advice and expertise to further develop the ESG reporting solutions it offers small and medium businesses and helping them navigate and comply with the changing ESG reporting regulations.

David Carlin: “High-quality, credible data is critical for those looking to allocate capital to more sustainable purposes. It is also a powerful tool in both risk management and opportunity assessment in a changing world. I am proud to work with the Omnevue team on tackling the data challenges within the ESG space.”
